Introduction
Camprate.com provides a useful interface for adding
campgrounds. It
allows you to store a great deal of information about a particular
campground. But adding a campground can sometimes be a
daunting
task especially if you are new to the site. This tutorial will help you
with that process.
Please feel free to jump to the section that you are having
trouble with.
It might be a good idea to print this tutorial on paper. Many
do find it more pleasant to read from paper than from a display.
Logging In
Before we begin anything, please make sure you have a user account at
Camprate.com. You can create a free user account by clicking on the Register text on
the top banner of the site. If you already have a user account then
please login by clicking on the Login
text also located on the top banner.
Getting to the Add Campground Form...
There are multiple ways to get to the Add Campground form.
They all
work but you might find it useful to follow the suggested instructions
below.
1. Click on the Campgrounds
button at the top of the site. It is sandwiched between Reviews and Tips & Gear.
2. This should take you to the Campgrounds page. A screenshot
is shown below.

3. If you already know what state and what region the
campground belongs to then you can directly click on Click here to Add a Campground
text circled in the screenshot above. Otherwise you can click on the
respective state, click on region for that state and then add a
campground.
Adding Campground Information
Adding a campground is done through a series of pages. The steps are
detailed below and all information is saved after each page. You will
be adding campground information in the following order:
1. Address and Contact Information
2. General Information
3. Amenities
4. Sites and Rates
5. Payment Information
Address and Contact Information
The first page you will be seeing after clicking on Click here to Add a Campground
will be the campground address and contact information page. Enter the
information for your campground as shown in the screenshot below.
Please note that the fields with a red asterisk next to them are
required fields. Once you are finished, hit the Next>>
button. If you made any errors or forgot to enter all the required
fields it will inform you.

General Information
In this page you will be entering some general information
about the
campground. None of these fields are required but it is recommended
that you enter as much as you can. You will be choosing the region of
the campground here. The list of the items you can enter is detailed
below.
1. Region
2. Latitude & Longitude (For people with GPS')
3. Total Sites
4. Two Images of the Campground - Hit the Browse button next
each image to select from your computer.
5. Maximum Amps
6. Check In and Check Out Times
7. Maximum RV Length Allowed
8. Camping Season (Dates, Seasons or holidays)
9. Description of Campground
10. Directions
11. Cancellation Policy, Reservation Info
12. Pet Policy - Are pets allowed? Any rules regarding pets?
13. Campground Rules - Is it lights out at 10 pm?
A small portion of the list is shown in the screenshot below.
When you are done entering information, please press the Next>>
button.

Amenities
This page is pretty straight forward. As shown in screenshot below,
just check the amenities that your campground has available.

Sites and Rates
This part of the process allows you to enter the different types of
sites in your campground and the rates associated with each. In
addition, you can also specify rates for different seasons for each of
the different site types. It is very flexible but it can be a little
confusing to understand. So lets first begin with a screen shot of the
page.

There are 3 different tables to add to and the order in which you
add them makes a difference. So lets do an example. Lets say my
campground, Happy Campground, has three different types of camp sites,
Wooded Lake front, Wooded Tent, and Wooded Site. Now the owners of Happy
Campground would like to charge a different price for each of these
sites depending on the season. Their peak season is summer (between
June 24 - August 26), so they would like to charge a higher rate during
this time. Their off season is from May 2 - June 23 and their fall season
is September 6 - October 10. The table below summarizes the different
prices for each season.
|
Off Season
(May 2 - June 23) |
Fall
(Sept 6 - Oct 10) |
Summer
(June 24 - Aug 26) |
| Wooded Lake front |
$24 |
$29 |
$33 |
| Wooded Tent |
$21 |
$26 |
$31 |
| Wooded Site |
$24 |
$29 |
$36 |
To capture all this information about the campground we begin
by adding all the different site types first. The sites types table is
the one circled and marked as 1 in the image above. We would type in
wooded lake front for site name, a short description and the number of
sites of this type we have available. Then we would click the Add button. The table should immediately reflect the changes. Below is a screenshot of table with all the site types added.

If you made a mistake you can always hit the Edit button to make changes or hit the Delete button to delete the site type and add a new one.
Next we add all the seasons. The process is exactly the same as
adding site types. The screenshot below shows the table with all the
seasons added.

As you can see the website automatically creates a prices table with
the information we entered. Now all we have to do is hit the button and
add prices for each different site type. Easy huh? Finally if we have
any other fee associated with the campground we would add it to
the Other Fees table
circled and marked as 3 in the first image of this section. Just to
make it a complete example lets say Happy Campground charges $5 for
each dog. We would add this to this table. A screen shot of the table
with this information is shown below.

When you are done entering all the information to your satisfaction press the Next>> button. One more section and we're done!
Payment Information
In this last page of the campground adding process we fill out the
payment information for our campground. This page is a breeze compared
to Sites and Rates. Choose
the check boxes that represent the different types of payments you
accept, add any payment terms, pricing information or sales tax info
and your all done. Here is a screenshot of what yours might look like.

Hit submit when your done.
Conclusion
Congratulations your all done! Adding a campground is fairly
easy and maintaining one is even easier. Try to enter in as much
information as you can but don't worry if you don't have everything.
We'll always be there to help you. Be a happy camper!
