So, You’re Buying a New Truck

Shopping for a pickup truck in today’s economy can be a very challenging task. Nowadays, trucks come with so many different options and upgrades that figuring out which make and model best suits you can feel like performing brain surgery with a blindfold on. This article is intended to give you a clear comparison of the most popular trucks on the road today – Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150, Dodge Ram, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan.

So let’s start with the most relevant topic of discussion today: fuel economy. With gas prices continuing to rise as we enter the summer, one must consider which trucks are most cost efficient. Leading the way, is the 2007 Chevy Silverado that takes top honors in both city/hwy mileage and 2WD/4x4. The Silverado gets 15/19mpg City/Hwy and 22/20mpg 2WD/4x4, both of which set the industry standard. Trailing Chevy in all categories is the Ford F-150, Dodge Ram, Toyota Tundra and the Nissan Titan. The popularity of pickup trucks in America has increased steadily over the years due to their increased power and capabilities. This year will be no exception. Leading the pack again is the Chevy Silverado which trumps the competition in all of the following categories: Maximum Crew Cab 4x4 Towing, Crew Cab 2WD Payload, Crew Cab 4x4 Payload, and Crew Cab GVWR. Arguably the most important feature to consider when selecting a truck is safety. The Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150 and Dodge Ram all achieved a 5-Star Crash Test Safety Rating for both the driver and the passenger. The Nisan Titan fell short on the passenger side and Toyota Tundra did not pass either. Click here to see more details.

It is always fun to play with new technology. The redesigned 2007 Chevy Silverado has taken that to the next level. While the competition has tweaked a few things here and there, GM was busy bringing innovative technology to market that gives the Silverado a luxury feel without sacrificing the rugged reputation. Silverado now offers heated windshield washer fluid system, lockable under-seat storage with a power outlet, Rainsense wipers, 170 degree extended cab rear door, automatic locking rear differential, OnStar with a one-year Safe & Sound Plan, and Electronic Stability Control System. None of these options are offered by the competition and is evidence that GM set on re-conquering its spot at the top of the industry. Click here to see more details.
