The park's spacious sites with natural vegetation yield a sense of privacy yet afford beautiful views in all directions. Lilacs, purple asters, sunflowers, prickly-pear cactus, golden rabbitbrush and sagebrush bloom in their respective seasons from spring through fall. Many birds frequent the park, among them several species of sparrows and finches, black-billed magpies, common ravens, bushtits, black-headed grosbeaks, tanagers, chickadees and western bluebirds
