Directions: There are many roads that lead to Bass Harbor Campground.... Some longer, some shorter. When towing a travel trailer, driving a larger motor home ....or perhaps you are traveling a long way, as the majority of our campers do.... you may want to arrive as quickly as possible with the least amount of hassle. This year, due to construction between Bangor and Ellsworth, we suggest this route:
Take Rte. I-95 north to Portland - Exit 44 [Rt. 295] follow to Rt I-95 and the Augusta Rt 3 exit. [exit 113] Follow Rt. 3 signs through Belfast - Searsport - Bucksport - Ellsworth. In Ellsworth take a right at the 2nd traffic light. [Rt 3] Follow Rt 3 to the causeway onto Mt. Desert Island. At the traffic light, stay to the right which is Rt 102. Follow Rt 102 for about 15 minutes to Southwest Harbor. After going through the town, turn left on Rt 102A for exactly 5 miles.
Welcome to Bass Harbor Campground!
(You could take US Rt. 1 all the way from either Portland or Freeport to Ellsworth if you would like to see the picturesque Maine Coast. Depending upon the traffic, this route could take from 5 to 8 hours!)
Cancellation Policy: To reserve a Cabin we require a $250.00 deposit. The Camping Trailer deposit is $250.00. If you reserve either of these, and then need to cancel, you will forfeit your deposit, unless we are able to rent the unit out. If this happens your deposit will be refunded, less a $10.00 cancellation fee. If you reserve a Motorhome site, a Water and Electric site, a Pop-up Camper site or a Tent site, we require a deposit of one (1) night's stay. Should you need to cancel your reservation, and you give us at least 14 days notice, the cancellation fee is only $10.00. (Your deposit minus the $10.00 fee will be returned to you.) If you cancel with less than 14 days notice, you will forfeit your deposit.
Reservation Information: If you reserve more than one site, we require a deposit of one (1) night's stay for each site that you have reserved. Should you need to cancel your reservation, and you give us at least 14 days notice, the cancellation fee is only $10.00. (Your deposit minus the $10.00 fee will be returned to you.) If you cancel with less than 14 days notice, you will forfeit your deposit for all of the sites you reserved.
If, when you arrive at Bass Harbor Campground, you decide to shorten the length of your reserved stay, you will still be responsible for the full amount of your reservation. If you have reserved additional sites for friends and/or family and decide you don't need the additional site(s), you will still be responsible for the full amount of your original reservation of all the sites and total number of days rented. Therefore, as soon as you are aware of any changes you would be prudent to call two-weeks before your arrival date to avoid losing your deposit and site charges.
If you should decide to leave Bass Harbor Campground early before the completion of your reservation you are still responsible for your site charges and will be charged the full amount of the reservation for the total number of days you reserved.
Pet Policy: Dogs must be on leash and under the owner's control at all times.
Pets must not be left alone at the campsite at any time.
You Must clean up after your pet! "Poop" bags are available in the office.
Pets are not allowed in the Swimming Pool area.
Pets are not allowed in the office.
Barking dogs will not be tolerated.
The first complaint received will result in a call to the local Animal Control Officer.
