Description: Chewonki Campground is located on 50 acres overlooking a saltwater inlet along the coast of Maine. We are noted for our peaceful, clean and expansive sites. Operated by the Brackett family since 1961, Chewonki Campground has 47 sites, many of which have a view of the Montsweag River.
Amenities include a 60'x40' filtered saltwater swimming pool, wading pool, clay tennis court, full hookups, dump station, horseshoes, volleyball, kayaks, canoes, playground, rec hall, library and small store.
The river beckons canoeist and kayakers where they can explore the meandering estuaries that eventually lead directly to the ocean. Shore and field birds abound and our nature path leads campers through a dense white pine forest to a point of land that provides a different perspective of the saltwater inlet.
Annual, perennial, and water gardens grow throughout the campground providing a sense of serenity and beauty. There is an Art Studio with an in-residence watercolorist who shows original paintings and prints.
Chewonki Campground is centrally located along the mid coast of Maine and is in close proximity to a variety of attractions such as museums, country fairs, antiques, saltwater fishing, beaches, lighthouses, golf courses, flea markets, gift shops and outlet stores
