Description: Discovery Ministries exists to partner with God's people in the mission of making Christ-like disciples by utilizing God's creation; through experiential education techniques, intensive leadership training, and custom designed programs to meet specific needs.
Discovery Ministries uses God's creation as a classroom and a teacher to introduce people to God as their Lord, Savior, and Creator and to help them mature spiritually, intellectually and physically to become the men and women god desires in His Kingdom. Discovery Ministries seeks to help people become caring of others, the environment and themselves; courageous and faithful, yet humble; responsible for their lives and decisions; purposeful and moral decision makers; and understanding of who they are and what their responsibilities are in relationships to God and others.
Discovery Ministries strives toward these purposes through a variety of programs such as:
* 2 - 14 day recreational trips or intensive challenge trips including activities such as backpacking, caving, canoeing, mountain biking and rock climbing in the Ozarks and other areas of the country.
* 1 - 7 day retreats at Discovery Ministries base camp near Eminence, Missouri, where activities such as group initiatives, ropes courses, canoeing, caving, and climbing can be utilized.
* Family centered programs such as family camps, couples retreats, D.A.D.S. trips, family vacations, family reunions, and recreational activities.
* Skills seminars such as group initiatives, whitewater canoeing and introductory wilderness, and Wilderness First Responder." |

Directions: From Springfield: Take Highway 60 East out of Springfield. Near Willow Springs, Highways 60 and 63 divide, watch for signs and stay on 60. Travel through Mountain View--which contains a small Wal-Mart, Blimpies, Pizza Inn, Sonic, McDonalds. After the blinking light at Birch Tree, travel 4 more miles, until signs for E Highway. Take E North (left)10 miles. Discovery Ministries will be on the West (left).
From Rolla:
If you are wanting a break between Rolla and Discovery Minsitries, travel on 63 until Houston--which has a small Wal-mart, Arby's, McDonalds, etc. Take Hwy 17 East (turn left) until Summersville. In Summersville, turn East (left)onto 106 Hwy. After you cross the 106 Hwy bridge going over the Jacks Fork River by Alley Spring, look for Highway E at the top of the next large hill. Take E Highway South (right) one mile. Discovery Ministries will be on the West (right).
If you are wanting to drive straight through from Rolla to Discovery Ministries, 3 miles after Licking (on Hwy 63), turn West (left) onto P Highway. P Hwy ends at 137 Highway, turn South (right) onto 137. Travel on 137 until 1 mile or so after Yukon, where 17 and 137 divide. Take 17 Highway east (left) (this won't seem like a turn, the highway just continues) until Summersville. In Summersville, turn East (left)onto 106 Hwy. After you cross the 106 Hwy bridge going over the Jacks Fork River by Alley Spring, look for Highway E at the top of the next large hill. Take E Highway South (right) one mile. From St. Louis: Take I-44 West out of St. Louis. At Rolla, Take 63 South. Then follow the ""from Rolla Directions
From Kansas City: It's your call. We think the faster route is through Springfield, but some people swear by the Columbia/Jefferson City/Rolla route. Either way, use the directions from Springfield or Rolla and you'll get to us.
