Description: Unique primitive campsites with waterfront access on 50 acres of beautiful Rock River Islands at Grand Detour. 8 miles of deep water fishing and boating. The campgrounds were formerly known as Rock River Recreation which has continually operated as a rustic campground since the early 1950s. Prior to that all the way back to the 1800's individuals camped on the islands and retreated to town during flood periods. Groups are encouraged and the management team can arrange canoe trips, day trips, and dining arrangements with local quality restaurants. Daily camping will be allowed by reservation. In the past the campgrounds have received a bad reputation based on the conduct of daily campers who did not conduct themselves properly. With the change of ownership, significant security upgrades have been provided. The campground will operate with a closed gate. Access from the gate will only be allowed with proper camp issued identification. Security cameras have been placed around the campgrounds to assist in prosecution of vandals and trespassers.
