Description: Located near the village of Island Pond, home town of famed professional wrestler Chief War Eagle, and the northernmost state park in the Northeast Kingdom. The campground is nestled in a stand of white birch trees on Spectacle Pond. Wake up in the morning to the sound of calling loons. The park has several hiking trails including a leisurely walk to Indian Point. A park naturalist provides a variety of programs. Wildlife viewing for moose is popular in this part of the state, as well as viewing fall foliage. There is also a sandy beach located on Island Pond for day use and picnics. Brighton State Park is a destination park just 35 miles north of St. Johnsbury. Once you find it you’ll return throughout the summer. Brighton has 63 tent/trailer sites and 21 lean-tos. To locate the park, go 2 miles east on VT Rte. 105 from Island Pond, then .75 miles south on State Park road. MC/VISA. |
