Description: This 250-acre island park in Lake Champlain is only accessible by boat. A ferry($) to the island (no vehicles) departs from Kill Kare State Park (9am- 6:30pm). 42-site campground includes 26 lean-tos, mostly along the lakeshore. Gear delivery available($) from the ferry dock to your campsite, or garden carts (free) to wheel yourself. Hot showers, flush toilets, park naturalists, campfire programs, nature center, interpretive trails, park store and snackbar. Also 100-slip marina and 15 moorings, shore power ($) and water hookups, marine pumpout, dockside gasoline service. Pets permitted on leash (written proof of rabies vaccination required). To Kill Kare State Park (parking & ferry) from St. Albans, west on Lake Street (VT Rt. 36) to St. Albans Bay, bear right on Rte. 36, cross bridge, then left on Hathaway Point Road 3 miles to end. Directions: From St. Albans Bay: Go 3-1/2 mi SW on Town Road, Lake Road and Point Road to Kill Kare State Park. Passenger Ferry to Burton Island which is accessible only by boat; no vehicles. Ferry runs 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ($)
Reservation Information: There are several ways you can make a reservation at Vermont State Parks. To ensure a campsite will be available, pick the reservation method that best fits your interests and your convenience.
We have “Online” reservations for you to use from your home computer. We have a call center staffed with trained personnel to assist you in making a reservation and providing information about the parks. And during the camping season, you may directly contact the park where you wish to camp at for reservations within fourteen days of your stay.

Vermont State Parks, Call Center
Reservations can be made up to eleven months in advance of your stay. For example, if you would like a reservation for July 4, 2006, you can phone our convenient call center on August 1, 2005 to make that reservation. You do not have to wait until August 4, 2005 for an exact date to date reservation. Our Call Center (1-888-409-7579) (VT TDD Relay 1-800-253-0191) operates 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. To camp within 14 days of your call, during the camping season, contact the park directly instead of the Reservation Call Center.
Note: Requirements for a minimum reservation period may apply. There is a reservation fee, per site, regardless of length of reservation period.
Reservations for camping at Green River Reservoir State Park can be only be made by calling the park beginning May 2, 2005. (802-888-1349) Year-round Reservations for Seyon Ranch State Park also can only be made by calling the park directly. (802-582-3829)
Campground Rules: 1. Docks and moorings are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no reservations for dock or mooring space.
2. Registered campers with boats up to 16 feet in length may use a marina slip for no additional fee. Campers with boats greater than 16 feet but less than 25 feet will be assessed at the current marina rate for each foot in length more than 16 feet. Boats greater than 26 feet in length, or boats with persons sleeping aboard overnight, will be assessed at the full marina rate.
3. Dockage does not include a continuous water hookup.
