Description: New Discovery State Park is part of 28,000-acre Groton State Forest. New Discovery State Park includes 46 tent/trailer sites and 15 lean-tos in the developed campground. This is one of only two state parks that allow horse camping. Trailer your horse and experience the Montpelier/Wells River Railroad multiple use trail. Call ahead for information. Also, experience remote camping on Osmore Pond only reachable by foot or boat. You can get a canoe and remote lean-to site on Osmore Pond for up to 4 people for only $25/night. Wake up to the call of the loon. Hike to the top of Owl’s Head to view Groton Lake, Kettle Pond, and Camel’s Hump, one of the most photographed scenes in Vermont. To locate New Discovery State Park, go 2 miles east from Marshfield on U.S. Rte. 2 and 5-1/2 miles south on VT Rte. 232.
