Description: Gifford Woods State Park is located in the shadows of Killington and Pico mountains off Rt. 100 in Killington. The park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 and 1934. The Appalachian Trail runs through the park and joins up with the Long Trail just 1.5 miles from the campground. Across from the park is Kent Pond, a popular fishing spot and a 7-acre natural area with stands of virgin hardwood. The campground includes 21 private lean-tos and 27 wooded tent/trailer sites. A relaxing picnic area and playground are also available. Hot showers, dumping station. Area attractions include Killington/Pico Recreation Area, Coolidge Homestead, Vermont Marble Museum, Wilson’s Castle, New England Maple Museum, and others. MC/VISA.
