Description: " We welcome you to the American Legion Family Campground (Home to your Family-Style Camping) located in scenic, progressive hospitable Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. In the midst of Minnesota's 10,000 beautiful lakes, the Detroit Lakes Area encompasses more than 412, crystal clear, blue lakes within a 25-mile radius. This provides a wonderful variety of summertime recreation activities from early morning swim, a boat ride, or a lazy afternoon innertube floating down the Otter Tail river to waterskiing, sailing or zipping across the lake on a personal watercraft. The American Legion Campground sits across from the mile-long city beach That meets the expectations of the most discriminating sun-worshipers.The beach also has two boat launching accesses and a fishing and observation pier. A marina is located directly on the city beach, boats, pontoons and paddle boat rentals are available. It also has a large docking system with boat slips . While staying at the legion campground you are just a 1/2 block away from The International Hockey School and minutes away from some of the finest dining, shopping and amusement parks around. The Legion Campground has 123 sites,There are two bath room facilities with showers in each. We have a store providing groceries, souvenirs, ice and camping supplies. Campfires are allowed within fire rings provided, we ask that you do not move them, wood is sold at store if needed. As a camper you are welcome to use our lounge as a guest of the campground. Hours are Monday - Thursday 3:00 - 10:00, Friday and Saturday 1:00 -10:00, and closed Sundays. We ask that children not be brought into the lounge and in no way will be allowed to enter after 8:00 p.m. "
