Desert Palms Golf and RV Resort    [Write a Review] [Save] [Upgrade Listing]

Description: Salome is a quiet rural community that expands from 500 people in the summer to about 4,000 people in the winter, most of whom are retired snowbird visitors. Salome is slowly growing with most development near the center of town zoned "RV Subdivision" which will preserve the area as a haven for snowbird retirees for the foreseeable future. The area's winter population is expected to increase at a moderate rate as developers slowly increase the deeded lots available for purchase. Desert Palms is a Quality RV Resort at a Reasonable Rate and the nicest RV resort within a hundred miles of Salome. A 9-hole green-grass "Pitch & Putt" golf course is free to residents. A reasonably-priced regulation sized 18-hole green-grass golf course shares a common boundary with Desert Palms so tenants can walk from their site to the first tee from anywhere in the Resort. More than 50% of our residents do not play golf and enjoy their stay at Desert Palms. We have a pool and spa that are both heated during the winter. Our attractively graveled back-ins are 40' x 55' with a 7' x 21' cement pad. Three dozen of our back-ins are 48" x 55'. Most pull-throughs can accommodate rigs as long as 60'. We cater to over-55 winter visitors, but consider younger tenants on a short term basis. There are five restaurants, three garages, four churches, three country store markets, and three hardware stores within 15 minutes of Salome. We do not try to compete with any of these services that are provided elsewhere in the community. Supermarket shopping is 50 miles away in either Wickenburg or Parker. Big box stores are 70 miles away in Avondale. Tenants enjoy going to the "big city," but they also enjoy returning to the haven of Salome. We have an active social program that is growing as more people choose to spend their winters at Desert Palms. Our hikers and four-wheelers have lots of BLM land to explore. Salome is pronounced "Sa-lom" with a long "o" and a silent "e."

Directions:
Desert Palms is near Salome, Arizona which is 56 miles east of the California/Arizona border and very close to the I-10 corridor. From Blythe, CA take I-10 east past Quartzsite to exit 31 and go ENE on State Route 60 to exit 56.5 which is downtown Salome. From Phoenix, AZ take I-10 west to exit 81 and go 30 miles on Salome Road to downtown Salome.

Desert Palms is a little over a mile south of downtown Salome. From the intersection of State Route 60 and Salome Road, go south 1/3 mile to the intersection where Harquahala Road veers off to the right. Travel 2/3 mile south on Harquahala Road to the Desert Palms entrance.

Cancellation Policy:
Desert Palms encourages prospective residents to make reservations early for the following year and do not believe we should be overly restrictive when changing events in your life force reservations to be cancelled. We are committed to returning deposits to guests with reservations who have reasonable explanations for their cancellation. Repeated cancellations by the same prospective tenant would be cause for Desert Palms to require that tenant to be present and pay in advance for a site rental.

Reservation Information:
The most common reservation technique is to call the Desert Palms Office Manager at 928-859-2000, especially if you expect to stay with us for some part of the winter season. Our office is open from 0900-1000 only during the "off-season" summer months. These hours expand as the winter season approaches. You should have a Resort map so you can discuss availability at the time you call. Although we have three rate schedules, most of the spaces around our Pitch and Putt golf course and our perimeter wall are taken for the following winter season before the current winter season is over. Desert Palms has nearly 100 annual site rentals and another 100+ that are reserved for the following season before the end of April You are encouraged to call our reservation number as soon as your plans firm up so you have the greatest number of sites from which to choose your location.

Pet Policy:
Desert Palms is pet friendly, but there are reasonable restrictions intended to protect other residents. Well mannered and behaved pets are welcome. Large dogs or animals that could be perceived as threats to other over-55 residents, animals that persistently bother neighbors either audibly or physically, owners of pets that could escape and be a danger to others, and owners who do not pick up after their pets are not welcome at Desert Palms.

Campground Rules:
We are primarily a winter snowbird destination resort that our residents consider their winter home. We attempt to keep things neat and tidy to befit the image of a pleasant place to have a winter home. We do not consider ourselves a campground, so we do not permit campfires or tent camping and have no picnic tables at the sites. Our rules are similar to rules in other RV resorts, are consistent with our objective of providing a home-away-from-home atmosphere, and make reasonable efforts to protect the rights of others to quiet and peaceful enjoyment during their stay at Desert Palms. The most important of our rules are concerned with speed limits, responsible pet management, use of the pool, use of the laundry, and responsible use of 4-wheeled recreational vehicles. If you consider how your actions might be interpreted by others, not as how you interpret them, and act accordingly and responsibly, we will all enjoy each other's presence.
