Short Summary
Wonderful Location - Appaling Owners
Comments:
The setting is wonderful, but the good ends there. The owners are extremely cheap, rude and lazy. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. They think the facility is made in 'heaven', these self proclaimed Christian owners, treated us like trash, although we came in with the utmost respect. They acted more like vicious demonic psycho maidens, than any good southern hospitality. The owner several times just started screaming at our kids, accusing them of 'breaking a rule' and he supposedly witnessed this offense, which was not true, what a liar, and this occurred more than once! Unbelievable. Especially for someone with a bible laying at the front counter. After some research, we also found we paid entirely too much for the dingy little rv 'hotel', the rental water craft would hardly run, seems like they had mixed water in the gas previously, refused refund. After talking to some local people apparently these owners are well known in the area for not treating people fair, tourist (as our selves) BEWARE! Cleanliness...not! Basic supplies stocked...not! When we complained about the lack of TP in the bathroom they insinuated that it had been removed by us tenants, and would not be replaced till the coming week! The pool was disgusting, there was still remnants of green algae from sitting all winter out in the open with no care, missing tiles and the water was less than clear. We should have left the very first day, it did seem weird that we were there at the peak of summer season, and there were very few people in the campground, maybe 20% occupied, when other campgrounds and the lake facilities were packed with people. It did seem like the owners had some 'friends' from out of town which received stellar treatment, and were blatantly allowed to use the facilities 'after hours' while everyone else was asked to return to their camps. We've stayed at some bad campgrounds in the past but have never been offended like the owners managed to do here. Besides warning folks on the internet with these reviews, we will also be making complaints to the BBB and local authoritative entities. Don't let the location fool you, Lake Chatuge is spectacular, so don't ruin your visit by giving the Ho Hummers your hard earned money. Do your self a favor and tell a friend about this review.
