| Short Summary |
Wonderful bay views from front row sites; fall offers best choice of sites and great weather |
Comments: The first time we went was in early November. There were only two other RVs. The view was spectacular; we chose our site; the price vs value for late season was great! No insects and the weather was wonderful. The next years 2006 and 2007 we camped during the regular summer season. Many sites were available during the week and quickly filled to capacity on the weekends. Sites close to the dumpsters were plagued by swarms of fruit flies everywhere inside and outside the RV day and night. You must have a smoky campfire if you want to sit outside at night. They do spray for mosquitoes but there are still a few left to "bug" you. The sites are all shaded by pine trees. The satellite reception can be difficult to set up. Cell phone service was very poor. Their wifi was available only in the cafe but remained on after hours. Most people just sat in their cars to get reception. Summer rates are higher than I would expect for a campground with all dirt roads and sites. The roads were not good and some were very bumpy due to large holes. But the campground is so popular that people reserve their sites a year in advance before they leave. We always camp from Thursday to Thursday to avoid the vicious weekend traffic on the Bay Bridge. Although, we prefer camping there out of season, we will return again this summer in August.
