Comments:
We have been camping at Jed Smith for many years. Over the past 4 years, the campground has experienced some serious degeneration, especially in the area of restrooms, showers, road maintenance and campsite maintenance. In the past, I would have rated this campground a full 10, but our recent experience was disappointing. A portable restroom/shower facility from "Comforts of Home Inc." (definitely a misnomer) was placed next to the old restrooms. It smelled bad and only had 2 combination restroom/shower stalls and one handicapped stall in place of the previous 6 restrooms and 4 showers. Two of the other restroom facilities were completely closed down, and the other was always very busy. In the main shower facility, only one women's shower was working and there was almost always a line. It was really sad to see the deterioration of such a beautiful campground. Several of the campsites have been closed due to some artifact findings. Surely some action could be taken to honor the area while allowing its use for many families to enjoy.
