In 1513, Spaniard Juan Ponce de Leon discovered and named Florida while seeking the "Fountain of Youth". Almost five hundred years later, the state serves as a metaphorical fountain, providing those in cold weather climates a winter escape. Annually, approximately 60 million visitors vacation in the state.
State attractions include the countless beaches located on the state? vast coastline, numerous amusement parks including Universal Studios, Busch Gardens and Disney, year round golfing at approximately 1,000 courses, Dayton Beaches' Bike Week, ten professional sports teams and Everglades National Park, which is the largest subtropical wilderness in the US. Vacationers can choose from over 900 campgrounds located in the state.
Fun Fact: If you were to walk one mile of Florida beach every day, it would take you longer than two-and-a-half years to get around the whole state.
