6 years in a business we built from the dirt up and only 2 complainers. Now, we may have felt a little bit sorry for this guy, even though, the registered camper of his site, was informed of a large wedding taking place the weekend they camped, was also informed that we expected more noise than usual this weekend because of the wedding. HOWEVER, this party, one party out of 98, called repeatedly to complain all weekend and finally after camping 2 nights this camper demanded his money back and against our policy we refunded, since then we were advised of this review and not much to our surprise did we notice that this camper also wrote a negative review a week later of our neighbor campground in Bagley.
Again, in our defense, we cater to young families with lots of kids who want to hang loose and not be told what time to go to bed, We often have live entertainment until 11-12 pm, so not the place to come if you are a light early sleeper. As far as dogs running loose, there is ONE mascot dog, who belong to the neighbor and they do not take care of him, he is black lab, a real sweetheart, and lives every moment of his life to play with the camp children, 99% of our campers would rather take care of him rather than have him hauled away to be euthanised. Maybe there should be a review board for campers themselves, just a thought. |

Ugh, yes, you've found your niche by offering a campground that basically has no rules and there are obviously enough people that were looking for this that you're doing good business. I call 'em how I see 'em and I also wrote a good review on Lake Joy.
We were not informed of the wedding or forwarned of the noise. We never asked for our money back or complained to the owners although I know some people next to us did and aside from their refund it didn't do them any good ... just made them more upset.
We found out there was a bachelor party next to us while we were pulling into our site. We used to party like rock stars pre-kids but NEVER would we have been as obnoxious as these folks were. I've been camping for about 14 yrs now and never had the owners of the campground not ask a rowdy bunch to keep it down especially in the wee hours of the morning (it's not like we were trying to go to bed at 8pm or something).
We were asked to keep our dog on a leash because the campground said a child was chased by a loose dog the weekend before. The "mascot" dog wasn't the only loose dog.
If you want to party hard with no rules this is the place to be. If you want to enjoy the quiet of nature keep driving. |

Um, yes, the people next to you who got there money back after camping the whole weekend, were all with your party, do you really think we don't know that, you were the only group of 3 who hadn't camped here before in the whole entire campground.
There was your group of 3, the wedding group, and the bachelor party group. Now, for more corrections, the male owner did respond to your call on Friday night and ask the party to quiet down, also the following night the call was received at 9:30 pm and once again the male owner did go down to the section and move the bachelor party to a different location and monitored them for at least 4 hours at which time a storm blew in and management figured that since the bachelor party was staying in tents they would no longer be able to cause a disturbance by remaining outside. To say management did not try to calm the party is false. The employee who took this reservation insist that this party was informed of an possible rowdy atmosphere over the weekend and since you have not been completely honest we would have to take her side.
The campground is unaware of any dog chasing a child, however the week prior a dog did break out of a screen porch and chase after a small DOG being walked on a leash, the small dog was not injured and the dog that broke out of the screen porch was not seen at camp for the remainder of the weekend.
It is disturbing that you are looking for quiet places of nature yet trying to camp at resorts that offer new pools, new playgrounds, modern comfortable restroom & laundry facilities and live entertainment. And then slamming them on the internet because your not happy. The other place got slammed because they didn't tell you that you could hear the trains and because you had pay for stuff that is not actually part of "nature". It is not feasible for any campground to offer expensive play features and awesome restrooms to people who simply want to sit in the woods on their pocketbook, you might give a state park a try. |
